Oops! The meeting is also virtual!!
The meeting will also be online at our usual Jitsi location! https://meet.jit.si/WlugMA Later, Tim. -- I am leery of the allegiances of any politician who refers to their constituents as "consumers".
Guys, Patrick and I were talking serial ports for systems so you can access their console, and using Digi CM32 network serial concentrators to give access to multiple systems with telnet to specific ports. Then I mentioned an fantastic tool called 'conserver' which I use to manage a bunch of remote systems. Really works well. https://www.conserver.com/ So you do have to configure it (and I can help if you run into problems) but what is really gives you is the ability to do: console <name> and it will connect you to a console for a specific host. That can be a local serial port (which is where conserver started, using Cyclom-Y or -Z serial cards!), or an ipmi port, or a telnet connction to a remote port on a serial port concentrator, etc. So instead of having to memorize details, you just know names. And it offers loggins, access controls, multi-person access at the same time (one writer, many readers). It's not sexy, but when you need it, it really rocks. John
In the vein of the past few meetings talks on history of Linux and Unix, I present this! https://www.levenez.com/unix/
