I spent alot of time on the Ultra 1 140/170 models, Ultra 2 (still got one running at work!), along with Ultra 5/10 and newer. You need to provide more details on the exact model, and also let us know what other elements the system has in it. Do you have it on a serial console or a monitor? Finding those old Sun 13W3 monitor connectors is a pain, though I probably have some kicking around to goto VGA if I look hard enough. For the Ultra 1 series, make sure the CPU fan spins. They had a heck of a time with them dying and then overheating. The Ultra 2 is a slightly simpler beast, but I'd just pull one of the two procesors and all but two sticks of memory. As I recall, you want it in some certain slot order, not right next to each other. Pull the disks, they're not needed at this point, you want to see what the BIOS shows on bootup first. And if you don't have a monitor and keyboard hooked up, then you will want a 9600 serial connection. John
