HI everybody, I gave my "Introduction to Linux" presentation to a group of Internet professionals in Hopkinton last night (http://www.ip495.org). I was asked a question which I could not definitively answer since I am not a creator of web pages. The questions are: What tools are available on Linux for creating web content? Is there something akin to FrontPage for Linux? Sure, for simple HTML, any text editor will do. I've even used OpenOffice, but it feels crude to me (maybe I just don't know how to use it properly). GIMP could be used to create still images. Beyond that, I'm lost. Do I smell a topic for an upcoming meeting ? Thanks, Andy -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org

I'd say vim, but people would call me a masochist. There's Quanta which is KDE-based which is pretty good. Has snazzy GUI table creators and other stuff people might like. If you use gentoo, it's just an "emerge quanta" away ;) Cheers, -- Chris Aniszczyk Gentoo Developer - http://www.gentoo.org - http://cia.navi.cx/stats/author/zx http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x274A275F
As far as I know the application closest to Dreamweaver/FPage in kin might be the Mozilla editor as a WYSIWYG editor. Other than that there is also an html editor called bluefish for the gnome-looking world. and it is "apt-get install bluefish" away :) baris On Wed, 2004-05-05 at 14:40, Chris Aniszczyk wrote:

Anjuta does a good job with html/php. I like to keep a connection to mysql open in the bottom terminal window too. Works for me.

no arguements from ME... that's pretty-much what -I- use... ...of course, my web pages aren't all that complicated, either. <shrug> -- William Smith wsmith@chezsmith.com Fall River, MA

Nvu (http://www.nvu.com) is mentioned on page 10 of the June 2004 Linux Journal.
From the nvu.com website: "A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver."
