I would love a hackfest! I think learning about tools to help you protect your data ... or better yet finding out how safe your data currentlyu is, would be both fun and informative. Cheers Arturo -- Arturo <wlug@sedo.net>
Hi all, Can you please help me.... I've got a problem with qmail, I've built my qmail server, Here, I can send an email using my email address, cleary listed on the recepient name that the sender's address is listed. But, these following things happen : 1. I can connect to my server, the connection and autorization are workin' nice, It alwais say "NO NEW MESSAGES" 2. When I'm tryin' to send an email address to the one of the email address that defined on my mail server, it always MAILER_DAEMON replied with the subject is "FAILURE NOTICE" So, can somebody tell me what has happened here... ? What Shoul I Do ? Thanks All, Bye there and have a nice day! Note : I'm using qmail with pop3.
I'd say you need to first find the cause of the "MAILER_DAEMON FAILURE NOTICE" maybee attach one of the messages and send it to the list. It usually says in the message why it failed. Then just correct the problem. Also look at the qmail logs, they might indicate what is going on. The logs might be in /var/log/ or /var/log/messages You gave very few details. Everytime I check my mail in my new qmail server, it is always say "NO NEW MESSAGES", it looks like it doesnt have a problem. but, ever person that tried to send me an email to my address that defined in my new qmail server, the sender got replied from my server (MAILER_DAEMON). The message that the sender got after they sent me an email look like this bellow : -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi. This is the qmail-send program at petrolumbrunei.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. <aramico@petroleumbrunei.com>: Sorry. Although I'm listed as a best-preference MX or A for that host, it isn't in my control/locals file, so I don't treat it as local. I bet this is the problem:
Sorry. Although I'm listed as a best-preference MX or A for that host, it isn't in my control/locals file, so I don't treat it as local. (#5.4.6)
It sounds like the DNS is set up correctly, but QMAIL doesn't know it's supposed to accept mail destined for that domain. Take a look through the Qmail config docs. I'm sure it tell you how to fix that. -Marc -----Original Message----- From: wlug-admin@mail.wlug.org [mailto:wlug-admin@mail.wlug.org] On Behalf Of Aramico Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 1:37 PM To: wlug@mail.wlug.org Subject: [Wlug] My qmail server could send the email but it could not receive the email.
