Success with my bootless ULTRA1
Thank you all for your suggestions. The SUN ULTRA1 booted! The screen said, " Welcome to Gentoo Linux LiveCD". The trick was from the "ok" prompt to get the address of the CD reader. This was done using devalias. Then ok> boot /sbus/SUNW, fas@e,8800000/sd@6, 0:f worked! I do not know gentoo at all having cut my teeth on aurora and fedora. This will be an adventure.
