I remember from one of the more recent WLUGs that some information about Linux on Alpha was presented. I was at the Mass Academy for Math & Science yesterday, and they have several DEC Alpha 400 4/233 machines and they asked me if there was a Linux that might run on them. Not being a DEC kind of guy, I couldn't answer... Anyone care to offer some information regarding this? Thanks in advance! Steve
Most any alpha linux distribution should work on that machine. I've seen redhat 7.1 on an alphastation 250, which is a very similar machine. Debian and SuSE should be fine too. Scott On Tue, 26 Feb 2002, Stephen C. Daukas wrote:

We had an Alphastation 533mhz running redhat err, 7.1, iirc. KDE was slow, I remember the video card not being impressive, so I'm sure X was not accelerated. She wasn't my box, so I don't know how optimised she was either. Suse, redhat, slack(i think), debian, *BSD all have alpha-centric distros. - (hey all, I just joined the ML) James KB1FJQ
Thanks in advance!
