Guys, Anyone have a lead to where I could get a puzzle design cut out with a laser from either thick cardboard or thin plywood? But I also want to engrave a message on the puzzle pieces before they're cut out. I've been looking into inkscape pluggins for this and I think I've got one I can use, it's now finding someone/place with the right equipment. Any ideas? The message would just be text, maybe some simple graphics. Nothing crazy, but the entire idea is to make the message into a puzzle to be put together. John
That's something that Technopia could definitely do. Tim. On Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 4:58 PM John Stoffel via WLUG <wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:

Probably not helpful to you but I've used piczzle.com to create a wooden puzzle. Obviously this isn't as immediate as doing it locally. Probably also costs more. In my case I commissioned the image for the puzzle. Attached is a picture of it in progress. It is approximately 28"x20" when complete. -- Dennis Payne dulsi@identicalsoftware.com https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@dulsi

Thanks for the pointer! It's more picture oriented, but it does look really slick and I could see doing this down the line for a family photo for sure.

Very nice! So just now I signed up for the laser cutter class next monday at Technocopia in Worcester. I'll try to write up a review and share my thoughts. I've got a basic inkscape plugin as well for generating the puzzle pieces and then I layered on some text on top for the letter. Need to re-learn my inkscape so I can make it look better. John
So, if you're a jigsaw puzzle fan, check out Bob Armstrong's page at https://www.oldpuzzles.com/ and his son Conrad's page at https://newpuzzles.com/ Bob is a friend and is a fixture at Briarwood in Worcester. Mike On Mon, Jun 12, 2023 at 8:45 PM John Stoffel via WLUG <wlug@lists.wlug.org> wrote:

Very cool stuff! I'm looking more for a quick way to send my daughter at camp an interesting letter. I've done a spiral text, a crossword puzzle, and this year will be a real puzzle. It's something fun to keep me learning new stuff. Can't wait to take the laser class in Technocopia this monday.

Cool, my neighbor Anita used to work there.
