I've been using charter for almost 2 years now. Although about six months ago they seemed to be doing a lot of upgrades (the base service now is supposed to be 2MB/s), and we were losing connection almost every weekend, it seems to be much better right now. I did also find that a simple complaint got me free month(s) of service, as long as I waited on hold long enough, and complained loud enough. It ends up being ~$50 if you choose to rent the cable modem from them (you can obviously buy your own down at Best Buy, or CompUSA), but it's nice that they foot the bill to replace the modem if anything seems to be wrong with it. The main thing I miss from DSL is a static IP, and a TOS that is server-friendly. But, I knew that when I signed up, and in general, I'm happy with the service. -- Doug Geiger runexe@ece.wpi.edu runexe@wpi.edu runexe@ieee.org dgeiger@alum.wpi.edu -----Original Message----- From: wlug-bounces@mail.wlug.org [mailto:wlug-bounces@mail.wlug.org] On Behalf Of Mike Frysinger Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 3:06 AM To: wlug@wlug.org Subject: Re: [Wlug] Comcast experiences ? err, replace every occurence of 'comcast' with 'charter' :) -mike _______________________________________________ Wlug mailing list Wlug@mail.wlug.org http://mail.wlug.org/mailman/listinfo/wlug
