Many of the lists referenced on this page appear to have been updated recently, although the website itself is rather dated and I only remember hearing about the Linux Documentation project long ago. Otherwise I suggest he do an internet search for additional lists/directories of LUGs/open source/free software groups.

Fixing the text file shouldn't be hard if you know what the characters are that are causing the problem.

I hope our LUG and the others are not planning to expire anytime soon.
