Hello Andy,

My name is Jack Loftus, and I am a News Writer with SearchEnterpriseLinux.com, a web site with the TechTarget media company, based in Needham, Mass.

I’m writing your group today with the hope that you or one of your members could comment for a story I am writing on the upcoming release of Red Hat Linux 4. While an exact date is not yet available for publication, it is “rumored” to be at the same time as LinuxWorld Boston in February (February 14).

If you are able to comment, you can call me at the number below up until 5 p.m. EST, or if you cannot reach me or are short on time, you can answer the general questions I have provided below, or add any additional comments you feel are important. I appreciate your time and look forward to speaking with you. Even if no member of your organization uses or has used Red Hat, I’d still appreciate your comments.

n       What are you looking for from this version? If you don’t plan on taking a look at it, why not?

n       Does the fact that the 2.6 kernel is fully supported by v.4 give this version any clout, or is it just a case of “finally Red Hat has caught up to supporting the 2.6 kernel? (Novell has had them beat since August)

n       As users of Linux, is this version something that has been desired/needed? A “milestone” as it has been reported by some?

n       Does this version have the clout to get Linux widespread attention on the desktop, and not just the server space?

Thanks again,

Jack Loftus
