Marie, I constantly see http://www.emperorlinux.com/ in the Linux magazines that I frequently read, however I can't say I've ever bought one from them. Emperor offers a variety of "distros" including my favorite "Ubuntu". Their prices seem a bit high, but might make a good point of reference at the least. Being strapped for cash myself I decided to get a used laptop on Ebay and trust my luck. For just a few bills I got a Compaq Armada M700 (which I am writing this email on right now). It's processor is only a P3 @ 1GHz, but I appreciate it more and more everyday. Ubuntu Linux installed flawlessly on it and I even got a Belkin 802.11b/g wifi card working without a hitch. Hope this helps, Mike <quote who="Mims Research">
Hello,
I'm very new to Linux and I'm not a technical person. But I've learned enough about Linux to know it rocks (thanks Bob!) and to know I want a new Linux laptop. Can anyone recommend a reliable vendor? Replies off list are welcomed.
Thanks! Marie mimsresearch@gmail.com _______________________________________________ Wlug mailing list Wlug@mail.wlug.org http://mail.wlug.org/mailman/listinfo/wlug
