Laptop hard drive or full-sized? The lab I work in has a couple of these portable Firewire/USB 2.0 enclosures: http://www.cooldrives.com/25firmobexen.html It needs external power (there's a picture of the adapter on the page) only for plugging into the mini-Firewire connections (i.e. most laptop firewire connections), but works fine with a full-sized firewire, or USB without external power. It's just large enough for a laptop drive, so very portable (we fit the whole kit including all the extra connectors into one of those 25-CD nylon cases). -- Doug Geiger runexe@ece.wpi.edu runexe@ieee.org doug.geiger@gmail.com dgeiger@alum.wpi.edu Surface Metrology Lab Manager -----Original Message----- From: wlug-bounces@mail.wlug.org [mailto:wlug-bounces@mail.wlug.org] On Behalf Of John Stoffel Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 2004 12:40 PM To: wlug@mail.wlug.org Subject: [Wlug] Firewire/USB2.0 case recommendations? Folks, Anyone know of a good FireWire and/or USB 2.0 external Hard Drive case? It's got to have a builtin powersupply and be durable. Any suggestions appreciated.
