Ken> Here’s some details about my SUN ULTRA 1. A fun machine, well built. But old............ :-) Ken> But first a detail about me. I am 80 years old. That which I Ken> knew for sure back then I don’t know any more... sigh. I’d hate Ken> to trash this old friend. The screen shot dates back to when it Ken> worked. Heh. I'm losing it too, at least according to the eye rolls from my kids. Ken> SUN_MachineSUN-oldsda2_beginning Ken> The ID’s on the case are Ken> PN 600-3942-01 Ken> SN 620F1727 Ken> SVCd A11-170 Ken> The ID’s on the keyboard are Ken> SUN FCC ID C9SKB8703 Ken> N860-8703-T010 060 Ken> With the power supply unattached the fan flutters when the (1) Ken> button is pushed. This makes no sense to me. If there's no power... how is the sucker moving when you hit the button? Can you just pull the cover off the system, unplug *everything* execpt the power cord and press the power button on the front? You might need to hit the power switch on the back... trying to remember if it was a toggle, or a hard on/off switch. The U2 has a toggle... U5/U10 is hard on/off. Cannot remember the U1 switch. Sorry. Ebay to the rescue! It's a toggle switch on the back for power. No front panel power switch. Anyway, with the power connected and the power switch pressed, what happens? Does the CPU fan spin? If not, you're going to need to replace it first off. If the fan wiggles but does not spin when you power on the system, try reaching in and giving it a twist, it might then start spinning, but not likely. You should hear some beeps and boops at this point, time to dig up old manuals and see what they say for trouble shooting. But honestly, just toss it and get a BeagleBone of Raspberry Pi to play with instead. More memory and cpu speed for sure. :-) Ken> With the whole machine together with the key board attached, it Ken> goes ‘beep’ while some lights flash then nothing..... Does the keyboard flash when this happens? I assume you're trying this with the keyboard/mouse plugged into the system?
