[Wlug] What is shmfs?

HI gang, After upgrading to a 2.4 kernel, I now see a mounted device thus: Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on shmfs 76220 0 76220 0% /dev/shm I can't find anything written that says what this is.
