I'm not sure what would be considered the "top" perl modules. if you goto cpan.perl.org they've got like 3000 perl modules to choose from...
Well, they do list web stats there. I took a look at the search hits for 2001, grabbed the top 300 and from that, pulled only those for explicit modules, which yielded the below list of 54 in descending order of search-hit popularity (sorry Chip, I used awk to build it, not perl - guess ya can't teach this old dog new tricks. :-) Unfortunately, I'm not able to pull together a tarball tonight or attend Saturday, so if anyone else want's to take a stab... ...Oh well, thought so, still it is an interesting list nonetheless....
