We have a
client looking for Unix File Systems
long-term consulting help. This work can
be done remotely with occasional visits to client site out of
state. Details are as follows:
Project
Description: This is a need for a Sr. File Systems Engineer to work remotely via
a virtual office, There is potential for a client visit every 6-8 weeks.
This is a very strategic and high visibility project with a large end-client.
Optical based storage, OSD project. This resource will be part of the core
program that is in charge of fully designing a file system for work in
conjunction with an OSD driver. There are around 5 people on the project - 2
SCSI engineers/1 file systems engineer/1 embedded engineer. They are in the architecture phase right now.
Even with the consultant working from a virtual office, they will be held
accountable to a regular
schedule, (meaning you must work core
business hours)
Required
Skills:
- Unix file systems (Constructs such as VFS, vnodes, inodes, caching,
B+trees, disk layouts, index and hashing mechanisms)
- File System Internals
experience is key (Understand of, and ability to comfortably converse about,
inodes, allocations groups, how to manipulate internals of a file system)

- Strong C
- Strong Unix
- Unix development tools

Embedded systems development is a big plus
- NetBSD is a big plus

junior file systems engineer would still be considered as long as they have a
reasonable amount of understanding of File
systems internals. ****
