Snaps (https://snapcraft.io/) are an application-packaging technology created by Canonical designed to be developer-friendly by including dependencies instead of breaking them up into smaller packages like deb and rpm formats do. Personally I don't think think Snappy is very well designed, but as long as they lower the barrier of entry for application distribution on desktop Linux then it's a net positive.
