I have seen firewalls, when downloading a large file,  reduce in performance until the connection appears to freeze.  The comment about the router being old has SOME validity.  Would a firmware update of the router be in order?  I have come to expect a new windows box to be busy for a while doing updates when it is first turned on (*ugh*).

LMAO! I wonder what Wireshark, tcpdump or even ntopng would have to say about what you are experiencing. 😱 Perhaps you are right. It must be the wizards! 😂

I blame your router for being weak and paranoid, seeing the newest client OS made it run into your back room with the cash register  open.  Now your router may be running Windows, or DOS?

The community also includes trolls (like me). Greasy foul-mouthed comedians once under the hood, now lurking everywhere. They took over the underground pathways starting with your sewer system. They figured out that the command line is how to control all those posers like gnomes wizards and elves.

That's a common myth. Windows is actually controlled by wizards. Instead of doing a task directly, you must go through the steps the wizard requires.

So my trusty old piece of crap finally, well crapped out. My company gave me a shiny new Lenovo 470 but it came with windows 10... no worries I'll just quick grab the 18.10 ubuntu iso and use one of the various tools to create a bootable USB...

The *moment* I plugged it into my ethernet network, all hell broke loose. I didn't want to hook it up to my wifi because I assume it'll just send my wifi info back to a mothership somewhere.

My Verizion AP / router promptly crashed, hard. I had to yank the power sing the ABC song for it to fully discharge and reboot.

Windows... evil to the core...
