For those looking at used laptops (Stephen says he's buying new), I installed Ubuntu on my Dell Inspiron 8200 recently. It was painless, and everything seems to work, including the PCMCIA 802.11G card. I've had a pair of Dells (Inspiron 8000 and what I guess is basically a C840, equivalent to the Inspiron 8200). Both work very nicely under Linux without any major problems. I like the 1600x1200 screen. -- Robert Krawitz <rlk@alum.mit.edu> Tall Clubs International -- http://www.tall.org/ or 1-888-IM-TALL-2 Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- mail lpf@uunet.uu.net Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton
