I stumbled across bug #48545 (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/control-center/+bug/48545) when sound wouldn't work only for the "primary" user ('me') ... it *did* work for the other users on this computer, including others with access to root. The fix is to add 'me' to the audio line in /etc/group: audio:x:29:user1,user2,user3,me In the meantime, I noticed there were several lines in this file which included all users except 'me'. So here's the question: should I add 'me' to all such lines? Seems too crude ... and there must be some file "upstream" that would lead to 'me' being left off in the first place ?? Thanks, Doug
