Doug, you are correct.  My ULTRA 1 has a "funny" 25 pin sized connector with 13 pins.  My mouse plugs into the keyboard.

If I could get the terminal to work thru the kvm switch it would not be too bad to have a second keyboard and mouse on my desk.

I can use VNCviewer if necessary, but I would prefer a "real" connection.

Is there an adaptor between kvm and the "funny" terminal?  What is it called?

Subject: WLUG..KVM...Sun keyb/mouse, old and new

I get WLUG in digest (usually noon time).
I see some answers on Sun KVM but I think they do NOT tell you that....

a) OLD sun monitors have that funny DB25-shaped connector,
   and matching/old-style video adapter cards/mboard.

there ARE "adapter/converter" gizmos in both directions. I think I have
one at home, I should junk the ultra10 (style "b" below) that I don't use.
I forget which adapter I have (for old sun and newer VGA; or newer sun and oldSun Monitor).

b) NEWER sun's e.g. ultraNN (i think Ultra1 is in the OLD camp above)
    have:
"new" VGA style adapter, works with any VGA monitor
BUT:  "OLD" sun keyboard is still required unless you are going headless

(on the Sun, at BOOTup powerup time, if keyboard is detected,
Sun boots in normal/console mode; if NOT detected, it considers /dev/ttya as serial console )

The sun keyboard is totally incompatible as far as I know.
compare the DIN pins to the DIN pins on a PS/2 keyboard(or mouse).

and the sun MOUSE is attached to the sun KEYBOARD, which rather proves the imcompatible point.

Though you could just do the "V" portion thru a KVM, maybe, with 2 keybds on your desk.
