As much as I'm gonna get land blasted for suggesting it, if they are windows machines, use a windows PDC. I've used a Samba PDC for a couple years and am switching over to M$ right now. It's a pain at first, but once you see the benefits and ease, you'll ask yourself why you never did it before. Just my $0.02, please don't flame me for suggesting M$ On 5/11/05, Chuck Noyes <vze284qe@verizon.net> wrote:
Hi all,
At work, there are several workstations and servers (about 15) running Win2k, Win2k Server, and WinXP. I also have a server running SuSE 9.1 that has Samba 3.0.4 installed. I'm wondering if anyone out there has used Samba as a Primary Domain Controller in a Windows environment? Can Samba be used as a BDC (Backup Domain Controller)?
What are the pit-falls? ... Any "war" stories? ... Advice??
Thanks, -Chuck
