Are you looking for a PowerPC workstation or a PowerPC embedded computer? try http:\\www.linuxdevices.com good luck.
Well, there are a bunch of other places to look if you want to play with smaller embedded-style systems. This is a great board (from what I've heard): http://www.denx.de/embedded-ppc-en.html And man are they bad-ass looking...PPCBoot (http://ppcboot.sf.net/) runs on these boards, and Linux runs on them already, so perhaps it's not the best board for a porting experience... If you want some real fun, get some cicso router that has a powerpc -- I'm not sure of anyone who's got that working quite yet. Honestly though, porting to a new board without a hardware debugger (like the BDI2000: http://www.abatron.ch/BDI/bdihw.html) will be a lot more work. Unfortunately this will push the cost of the setup over the hobbyist level. The BDI2000 is especially nice since it has support for walking the Linux software page tables, and with the bdiGDB firmware allows remote hardware debugger with GDB from a linux client -- very nice!
