Frankly it's been my sad experience that any vendor that has spent so much money into making anything so proprietary, and you WANT to stay with it (M$ directory) then it's likely it will be more reliable (and likely intentionally designed to ONLY be) delivered on that vendor's own proprietary server OS. However, had you considered introducing a different Directory Service, then your options would have been very broad indeed. Bob Chuck Noyes wrote:
Hi all,
At work, there are several workstations and servers (about 15) running Win2k, Win2k Server, and WinXP. I also have a server running SuSE 9.1 that has Samba 3.0.4 installed. I'm wondering if anyone out there has used Samba as a Primary Domain Controller in a Windows environment? Can Samba be used as a BDC (Backup Domain Controller)?
What are the pit-falls? ... Any "war" stories? ... Advice??
Thanks, -Chuck
