A friend of mine just got a used notebook computer, but it has no AC adapter, and the battery is dead. He'd like to test it out before he invests any significant money into it. I'm wondering if anyone has an AC adapter for a Dell Inspiron 18000 and would be willing to bring it to the meeting, so we can see if this thing will fire up. And does anyone know of a good place to get used parts locally (like an AC adapter)?
Are you sure that's the right model number? I've got an Inspiron 8200, and I bet you're talking about an Inspiron 8100. If that's the case, then you can try it out with my AC adapter. If that works, he'll be looking for one of these: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=310-1461 or http://tinyurl.com/p6tpa If your friend can find a "service tag" number he can find a lot of information about how the laptop was configured when sold: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=3 or http://tinyurl.com/3qzsp That doesn't have anything to do with the AC adapter; it's just nice to know. -- Rich
