should reveal the setting inside of prefs.js (and maybe prefs.bak)... Don't know exactly what the error is (probably a corrupted file) but I'd expect it to be somewhere around there.

I'm not clear on what or where the startup config file is. Is there an easy way to save this? I'm probably going to upgrade from SuSE 7.2 to Debian 3 in about a week, so maybe it doesn't matter. I have backup copies of all my mail files on another drive, and I hope to resurrect those after I re-install everything. Instructions for doing that might be more useful. Thanks.
