Is there a way to add an entry in lilo to boot off a CD image, or floppy image? If anyone sees another way to install linux, i'm all hears.

Sure, just set your bootloader to point to the floppy image you want (not sure about using a CD image, that seems a bit large). I keep a copy of the Memtest86 floppy image accessible to Grub just in case: title Memtest86 kernel (hd0,2)/boot/memtest.bin Brian J.
