Bad x11 package from fedora (Bill Mills-Curran) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 08:02:27 -0400 From: Bill Mills-Curran <bill@mills-curran.net> Subject: [Wlug] Bad x11 package from fedora To: Worcester Linux Users Group <wlug@wlug.org> Message-ID: <20050920120227.GA12690@bday.mills.curran> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I installed a bad package from fedora over the weekend. xorg-x11.i386 6.8.2-1.FC3.45 There are a total of 13 packages that are associated with the upgrade. This also affects FC4. There is a beta fix that I hope to test tonight. DO NOT INSTALL THESE PACKAGES. If you have already installed the bad packages and are experiencing console lock-up, you can fight your way back by booting to single user mode, setting inittab to runlevel 3. At least your system will work at that level. Next, if you have another machine, you can get the old packages from fedora and downgrade (with the "--oldpackage" option).
