Is it normal for USB to disconnct/reconnect repeatedly, many times per minute? Is that still considered random and normal? That's what we have here, in the three different computers that I have access to today. Not a few times, but zillions of lines in /var/log/messages. It's worst in the older PC. The mice mostly have been pretty standard Logitek versions, nothing fancy or unusual. How can I find out if the lockup is caused by "X fighting over the hardware", or by drivers? USB can randomly dis/reconnect and that is normal. The lockup issues could be related to other drivers and/or X fighting over the hardware.
