You're talking about the MINT installer, right? In any case, I think you need to make sure that you boot into Win10, shrink the C:\ drive and leave free space on the disk.
The in the mint installer you need to select the custom disk partitioning scheme, since you need to find and select the space by hand.
I think you should be able to understand GPT partitions with both GRUB and Mint these days... but haven't tested it myself in detail.
