Phil., Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology at UMass Medical School, 73, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Newton, died Monday March 20th in his home. Dr. Waud leaves his wife of 50 years, Barbara E. (Garwood) Waud of Shrewsbury; his daughters: Catherine E. Officer of Southborough and Karen B. Daukas of Shrewsbury; a brother, Donald A. Waud of Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada; also survived by two grandchildren: John and James Officer, a niece, and a nephew. He is predeceased by a son, David R. Waud. He was born in London, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Russell and Mildred (Adams) Waud and had lived in Newton for several years before moving to Shrewsbury in 1976. Dr. Waud received his Medical degree in 1956 from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada and his D.Phil. Degree from the University of Oxford in England. Dr. Waud was a Professor for the Department of Pharmacology at the UMASS Medical School from 1974 until his retirement in October of 1997. He was a member of the Worcester Linux User's Group and the American Association for Advancement of Science. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dr. Waud's family on Wednesday, March 22nd from 7-9 PM and also Thursday, March 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24th at 11 A.M. in the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury, MA. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
