hi ya'll!
After the utter silence from my last topic suggestion, you would think I wouldn't bring it up again, but...
I have many very basic questions I would like to work through with you experts.
Things like:
kernel compiling/patching kernel-source vs kernel-headers frame buffers compiling software and USE flags lilo vs grub bootsplash WM/DE driver installs (NVidia/ATI)
Again, I don't mind leading the discussion, but it would be boring as heck if I as the speaker just stood up there and asked questions and took notes as the audience did the talking.
Thanks Mike
Hi Everybody,
Since there was no "official" speaker for the meeting, those in attendance decided that we'd use Mike's suggested topics as a basis for a discussion.
We covered kernel compiling, initrd, kernel modules, and grub/lilo as it pertains to pointing to the kernel image to boot. There was a discussion on frame buffers as well. I thought the meeting went well.
I also gave away quite a few Ubuntu Linux CDs which were recently sent to me. I have many more left, so if you want some for yourself and/or your friends, let me know!
If you came to the meeting and couldn't find us, I apologize. We moved to a different room at the very last minute due to a scheduling conflict. This new room worked out pretty well since there weren't that many of us, although we do like the Access Grid room much better due to its amenities and size. :-)
Later,
Andy
