In fairness, it did require some action on Jason's part --- Facebook does have a feature (?) to email people "from your address book" at various webmail providers, but it won't do so without the user specifically providing his or her credentials and approval. More specifically, we should be upset at Jason for not noticing that WLUG isn't a person when asking Facebook to send those messages, not at Facebook for letting him do so. Peace. I believe I speak for us all when I ask WHAT THE HELL?
For a while I thought Facebook might be evil.
Now I know for sure.
For those (are there still some) who have not seen this before, be assured that Jason did not write this message, it is autogenerated in the name of anyone who gets curious enough to touch Facebook.
They have tricks for getting your address list and using it to spam everyone from your mother to your boss.
Don't touch it.
Hi Worcester,
The cheeky autospammer addresses Worcester Linux Group by his first name.
I set up a Facebook profile where I can post my pictures, videos and events and I want to add you as a friend so you can see it. First, you need to join Facebook! Once you join, you can also create your own profile.
This paragraph is identical to three or four I have gotten from other people, often through mailing lists.
Thanks, Jason
