Now my questions are about the wlug.org mail server.
Where is it? Is somebody in wlug paying for it? Who owns it? Who has privilege to tweak it? Who installs the OS?
Through the generous support of https://mailman3.com/ and Danil Smirnov, we have free use of their Mailman 3 server. Tim and I can manage the Mailman settings via the web interface. We do not have OS or shell-level access.

Our list server has that quirk, such that when you post a new item OR reply, everyone on the list except you gets a copy/email. I think.
I don't know why you think that.
It did not work like that in the past, and other mailing lists to which I subscribe do not do that.
There is a setting that controls this. I don't know if the setting on your account was accidentally changed recently, or for the list server as a whole changed. Postorius (the web interface) is running 1.3.9b1, which appears to be a beta release, so it could be a bug or unintentional setting change. This is the setting: Receive own postings Yes No Ordinarily, you will get a copy of every message you post to the list. If you don't want to receive this copy, set this option to No. If you never created a login account on wlug.mailman3.com, you can find the instructions and links here on our website: http://www.wlug.org/participate.html Mailing List and Web Forum WLUG has a combined mailing list/web forum for general discussion by WLUG members, meeting announcements, ideas for future topics, help and support, etc. Anyone is welcome to join, whether you have come to a meeting or not. So a system of cables and computers running with GHz clocks took about 5hrs to archive a few hundred bytes. (Assuming the archive is in Eastern Standard Time.)
Stuff happens. Maybe Mailman3.com did an upgrade to the latest beta version? Mailman Core Version GNU Mailman 3.3.9b1 (Tom Sawyer) Mailman Core API Version 3.1 Mailman Core Python Version 3.10.10 (main, Feb 9 2023, 02:08:14) [GCC 12.2.1 20220924]
I don't know exactly how long it took to deliver it to you, but this is in the headers of the message I finally got back:
Received: from [172.22.0.5] (wlugmailman3com_mailman-core_1.wlugmailman3com_default [172.22.0.5]) by host.mailman3.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8EBB21747165; Sat, 11 Mar 2023 09:59:38 +0000 (UTC)
The day after it hit the archive.
I can't find that ESMTP id 8EBB21747165, but I received a message around the same time that shows Received: headers in different timezones. There was a 10 hour and 12 minute delay inside the mailman3.com system, between these two Received: headers: Received: from [172.22.0.5] (wlugmailman3com_mailman-core_1.wlugmailman3com_default [172.22.0.5]) by host.mailman3.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1BFC8174716F; Sat, 11 Mar 2023 09:59:40 +0000 (UTC) Received: from dsl.keithdiane.us (dsl.keithdiane.us [66.92.74.188]) by host.mailman3.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 54AD6174714F for <wlug@lists.wlug.org>; Fri, 10 Mar 2023 23:47:34 +0000 (UTC) And a 22 second delay between Keith's machine sending the message and host.mailman3.com receiving it, alhtough this could be clock skew. Keith, is your clock correct to the second on this system? Or do you only have a MHz speed system and a slow DSL line? That links to a bug/feature report on gmail.com. I don't use gmail, does wlug?
No. That appears to be a separate issue that may affect Doug.
