Tech support refuses to help me saying DO>that because I am using Slackware it isn't supported. the only "supported" printer in the Lexmark line (as far as Linux is concerned) is the z32. what i did was grab the z32 drivers from their website and install them. so FAR, i only have the cartridge that came with my printer: the color cartridge. Testing the printer looked funny because i didn't have the black ink cartridge in there. it looks like the Linux driver for the z32 is assuming that you have both the color AND the black cartridges. i'll find out for sure this weekend. FWIW, i'm running RH7.0. i tested the printer from the control-panel's Printer Configuration tool. the ascii test went through the motions of printing, which seems to have been explained when i did the PostScript test: only the color parts showed up, nothing that would have been black, which is why i came to the conclusion i did. i hope that much helps.
