I am subscribed to the boston python programming language meetup group and there are a lot of job ads on their email list.  The jobs need to be relevant to the python programming language, but python sounds like as good a language as any for the type of project you describe.

A friend of my wife used elance.com.

HI guys,

I know a small businessman who is interested in potentially hiring
somebody to write a piece of custom software.  He is wondering where he
would look to seek out contractors with the right credentials for this
small project.

He didn't mention too many details, but it sounds like the project will
have something to do with bar code scanning, optical character
recognition, and some type of graphical interface, most probably in a
Windows environment.

Where would you look if you were seeking a software professional on a
short term contract basis?

Thanks,

Andy
