Red Hat 8.0 is specifically geared, for the first time ever, for Desktop installation and ease-of-use, so that is what I would recommend. Mandrake 9 was also just recently released, and it might be worth a try also. Mandrake has historically been geared towards Desktop ease-of-use. -- Charles R.
