I've found that moving my systems to Fedora Atomic has been great for avoiding situations like this. The image-based OS update model of rpm-ostree ensures that an update doesn't leave the OS in a broken state, even if the update gets interrupted.

The introduction of bootupd in Fedora 41 has also helped ensure that the bootloader gets updated properly outside of rpm-ostree.

In essence, I get the leading-edge package updates of Fedora, with the rock-solid reliability that LTS distros are typically associated with.
